3 Facts why to turn into the Eco-friendly way

If you arrived here is because you are at least, a bit interested in the environment and in all the things that humans have made to it. Every action of the humans in one way or another have an impact in the world, but it is up to you if this impact is a bad or a good one.

When it is holidays and you have to think where do you want to travel, what do you prefer? Have you ever thought in nature instead of a place without it? Have you ever gone on camping or picnic and enjoyed the grass, the trees and the lake/river?

Most of the people really enjoy this kind of places, because how a well-known theory “biophilia hypothesis” says, we have evolved in the nature, so when we are in it we feel happier because we need it as a psychological need. So, if we feel good in the nature, why are we destroying it?

Every year 8 million tons of plastic ends up in the oceans, what is really an alarming fact, because this plastic is currently killing the marine fauna and polluting it. The sea animals by mistake eats the plastic thinking it is food and consequently it is estimated around one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals die each year. Evidently this makes a serious interrupt in the marine food chain and pollute the oceans with the death animals polluted with the toxic of the plastic.

The second fact is the deforestation. According to the FUO, around 7.3 million hectares of hectares of forest are lost every year. If we don’t turn into the eco-friendly way with the forest, in 100 years rainforests may be completely vanish. The deforestation has 2 big impacts in the nature, the first one is that the animals that lives or usually live in that forests, are running out of a home, what makes hardly their existence, while the other impact is the climate change. The impact in the climate change is that not only we are running out of enough trees to transform the CO2 into O2, but only these death trees also produces CO2, so it has a double impact in the greenhouse gas production, increasing the speed and severity of global warming, being considered that the deforestation is the second human-caused source of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

The third fact is the production of CO2. The main factor of the climate change is the high production level of CO2 by humans’ activities through the production in the factories, the use of non-electric transport and the burn of different materials. The actual production of CO2 is higher than what the carbon cycle can handle and the consequences of it is that temperature anomaly is directly related with the concentration of CO2, what is really bad if the average temperature increases in 2°C over the pre-industrial temperatures. What can we do to change these facts?

The first step is to ask ourselves if we are doing things in an efficient way in terms of the production of waste. With waste, what I mean is every kind of material that can be reduced in our production line. Usually this waste ends up as garbage in the dumps and in the oceans as has been mentioned in the first fact and most of the time it can be reduced through the 3 R’s “Reduce, recycle and reuse”. So, if you can apply the 3 R’s to our business, do everything possible to do it and you will be helping to the environment.

With the 3 R’s you can also see economic benefits in your balance, because you save money in the moment you don’t have to transport the garbage, and if you reuse things that before you weren’t giving them any value, because you don’t need to buy the replaced thing. While the second step is to decrease our carbon footprint or the carbon production of our companies, changing to eco-friendly technologies and stop doing unnecessary action. One example is the zero-waste industry, in where they do not leave any waste or garbage, reusing, recycling and reducing materials in their production line.
